WILDE PAIR: The Artist and the Teacher, Judith and Richard Wilde
November 4 - 13, 2021
First Look: Gallery Hop, Thursday, November 4, 5:30 - 7:30pm
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 6, 1 - 6pm
Given the title of the show, it should be pointed out that the artist, is also a teacher, and the teacher is also an artist.
THE ARTIST, Judith Wilde: Included in this exhibition are a series of mannequins executed as collages, paintings and three-dimensional cloth covered mannequins. The intent was to explore this narrative in various disciplines. There is also a series of “Chair” collages, which explores the theme of sitting alone in a room inspired by the following quote. “All of man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone,” which is attributed to the French philosopher, mathematician and theologian, Blaise Pascal. (1600’s)
THE TEACHER, Richard Wilde: The work exhibited derives from a collaborative effort documenting experimental assignments given to beginning college art students, which are recorded in a series of books dealing with various design issues. Also included are other book projects.
