This exhibition opens on Saturday, October 17th and will run through Saturday, November 14th, with opening reception on Saturday, October 17th from 2-5:00.
This exhibition, curated for Blue Door by Robin Hutchinson and Arlé Sklar-Weinstein, commemorates National Book Month with the historical art of the handmade book as created by contemporary artists.
Artists' books are made for a variety of reasons. They are often created to make art that is interactive, portable, movable and easily shared. Many artists books challenge the conventional book format and create books that become sculptural objects or a form of mixed media artwork that changes a book from its original form, altering its appearance and/or meaning.
We invite art and book appreciators with their families to enjoy this book-making experience . Hands-on workshops will be programmed throughout the exhibit.
